Gracie2

Gracie1
GRACIE

Gracie was found as a stray. She is fawn and white with a nearly totally gray face, and is between 9-11 years old, by my vet's guess. This girl has a beautiful show crop and may have been a show dog. She knows basic obedience commands, is thoroughly housebroken, and clearly has been accustomed to sleeping on furniture - she did not hesitate to get on my bed, and sleeps there now. She gets along well with other dogs, including the female boxers in the house, and is in quite good health for her age, with the exception of some skin tags and one marble-sized, non-malignant growth on her vulva.

This dog shows no signs whatsoever of ever having been mistreated - does not flinch from quick movements - and likes both men and women, and is calm and loving with my 2 and 4 year old grandchildren. If you have ever considered adopting a senior boxer, you couldn't find a better one than Gracie!

UPDATE - Gracie is now thoroughly embedded in my household and is no longer available for adoption. However, we are leaving her information and photo on the website so people can see what special dogs we get into our program. Once you let a senior boxer into your life and your heart, you won't be able to let her go!

FINAL UPDATE - I did, finally, have to let Gracie go. She became more and more feeble and it became obvious that she was no longer enjoying her life. I had her for nearly two years, and I am so grateful to have been able to keep her in a loving home such as the one she must have known before coming into rescue. I am sad she is not with me, but would not trade those two years to avoid the sadness.

Eliza

Eliza is an 8 year old fawn boxer. Despite her age, she still has a lot of zip and wouldn't sit still for a very good photo. She is up to date on shots and has been spayed.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Eliza, please fill out an online application.

Hannah

Hannah is a spunky and energetic 9 year old female. Don't let her age fool you, she would rather run laps around her yard than sit still for a photo. This sweet girl is UTD on her shots and is spayed. She needs to be the only dog in her household.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Hannah, please fill out an online application.

Diamond

Diamond is a sweet older girl of about six who needs to be the only dog in the household. She adores people, but does not like any other dogs. The older dogs so often get passed over, and they frequently are about as close to perfect as you can get! Give her a chance!

If you think you might be interested in adopting Diamond, please fill out an online application.

Phoebe

Phoebe is our white boxer mix with the cutest fawn eye patches - she may actually be purebred boxer. This mild tempered playful sweetheart is about 7 years old, is UTD with shots and has been spayed. She has a lot of energy, but loves to go on walks on leash, and loves her kennel-mate JuJu. She is dominant, but would do well with a laid-back male housemate.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Phoebe, please fill out an online application.

Dixie

Dixie is new to MTBR and not much is known about her or her past. She is fairly timid and would benefit from a family who would commit to building her confidence. Dixie has the potential of being the perfect family pet once she becomes comfortable and trusting in her new surroundings. Because she is timid, she would probably do best with older children.

If you think you might like to adopt Dixie or any of our other dogs, please visit our website at www.mtbr.org and fill out an online application. All email inquiries will be referred to the website.

Gypsy
Gypsy is a 5 month old boxer mix who is full of life and energy. She has the typical boxer personality and is happy to be anywhere, as long as she gets to be part of the action. She is very outgoing and playful, and gets along well with other dogs. She is still very much a puppy, and would benefit from an owner who can help Gyspy learn "big-dog" manners. She will steal your heart!

If you think you might like to adopt Gypsy or any of our other dogs, please visit our website at www.mtbr.organd fill out an online application. All email inquiries will be referred to the website.

Adoption Pending
Annie

Annie is between one and two years of age. She  was found at a yard sale, and is very, very skinny. She clearly has been neglected. The people who took her in had her for a week and put a little weight back on her, but they have a very small yard, a cat, another dog, and three children - they just couldn't keep Annie.

Annie is very sweet, great with kids and other dogs. She is not yet housebroken, but housebreaking adults tends to be a lot easier than housebreaking puppies.

Just look at that face! How can anyone resist?

Annie is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms, so will not be ready to go to a new home for several weeks. She should recover with no lasting effects at all.

If you think you might like to adopt Annie or any of our other dogs, please visit our website at www.mtbr.org and fill out an online application. All email inquiries will be referred to the website.

Roxie

Roxie is an adorable one year old girl who is great with kids, even the little ones, and other dogs. She has very unusual markings - she is white, but has many large brindle spots. She needs leash work, but knows "Sit" and perhaps other commands. Roxie was not reliably housebroken in her former home, but has not had any accidents in her foster home since her first day here. Her foster home has a doggie door, and that may be the key, since she doesn't seem to know how to ask to go out.

Roxie is a bed dog, and had her own chair in her former home, so if you don't want a dog on the furniture, you and she may have a few discussions. However, she's so loving and cute (her tongue sticks out of her mouth!), you will have trouble staying mad at her.

If you think you might like to adopt Roxie or any of our other dogs, please visit our website at www.mtbr.org and fill out an online application. All email inquiries will be referred to the website.

Bella

Gertie

Bella

Gertie

Bella and Gertie

Both girls are spayed. Shots are up to date (due in March of 2010 for both) and both girls are on Heartguard and Frontline. Both are chipped as well. Gertie (the larger) has been diagnosed with mild arthritis and takes med once a day for it. She's responded beautifully so this is not noticeable anymore. Other than this the girls have no health issues.

Bella and Gertie are approximately 65 and 85 pounds respectively and are both solid fawn in color. They are approximately 5 years of age and housebroken. We have not used crates with them as they are inside dogs and have the run of the house. We have two other male dogs and they all get along great. We have not seen the girls around kids or cats and therefore cannot recommend that they be placed in an environment that has either.

The girls are littermates and have therefore always been with each other. We would hate to break them up but if they had to be then we'd want for each to go to another home that had at least one dog for them to have as a companion. That or stay at home parents or could take them to work, etc. The thought of one of them sitting at home alone all day by themselves is not one I can hold in my head for too long. We are therefore shooting for a scenario in which they go together. That's how we adopted them...

The reason we need to place them is that we are returning to San Francisco where yards are hard to find and if you can find one it will be small. We will be keeping our two other recues that have been with us the longest and it will be a tight fit with two as it is. Four dogs in a San Francisco yard borders on cruel so we can't do this. It wouldn't be fair to the girls or the two boy dogs...

We would require that anyone adopting the girls allow them to be inside dogs and would have a yard where they could play. It must be fenced. A doggie door giving them access to the house when they want to come in is also a must.

If you are interested in adopting Bella or Gertie (or both!), please contact Mimsy at mimsi719@yahoo.com or Brigham at brighamthompson@yahoo.com.
Please do not contact Middle TN Boxer Rescue about these dogs, as we have no further information on them.
